Lest We Forget

Why are we so slow to emphasize better security for our schools?  Our amnesia of past tragedies reoccurs far too often.  We take the security of our things (art and memorabilia) more seriously than our kids.  The WAPS task force recently made a positive step by including funding for better security measures in the upcoming referendum.  But, we can and should do more.  Are we engaging our own school’s security team like we should?  Have we fully included our local law enforcement officials in this process?  How about our state legislature and governor?  There are answers to this problem that have nothing to do with the silly rhetoric of the past.  Why can’t we be proactive in taking care of our kids?  Let’s do away with the lulling effect that amnesia brings upon us!
